Our Process
No rushed jobs. No shortcuts. Every vehicle is different, and we treat it that way.
Every vehicle receives a thorough preparation before any product is applied. Proper prep is critical for long-term results.
High-pressure underbody wash utilizing SaltsGone in a foam cannon on a two post lift to remove salt, dirt, and debris
Targeted cleaning of corrosion-prone areas utilizing specialized high and low pressure frame rail cleaning tools to ensure no silt and sand are left behind .
Light rust remediation using mechanical tools to remove loose scale and failed coatings, creating a solid surface for long-term protection.
We are extremely meticulous in the application of Woolwax throughout the entire body and structural areas of the vehicle. Proper rustproofing goes far beyond surface coverage, which is why we take the time to access and protect areas most shops never touch.
To ensure complete coverage, we typically:
Remove splash shields from the underbody and wheel wells to reach hidden corrosion-prone areas
Remove wheels to allow better visibility and access for proper application
Remove body plugs wherever accessible so we can fog Woolwax into internal cavities where factory coatings end and rust often begins
On trucks, we also:
Remove the spare tire
Inspect for proper tire pressure and bead leaks
Coat steel wheels and spare rims, which are exposed to some of the harshest conditions and often overlooked
These steps allow Woolwax to reach seams, welds, frame rails, rockers, and structural pockets — areas where moisture and salt collect and corrosion starts.
Because every vehicle is different, application time varies, but a typical rustproofing service averages 4–8 hours. This is not a quick spray-and-go service. The time invested ensures thorough coverage, long-term protection, and results we stand behind.
Woolwax Undercoating
Woolwax is a lanolin-based, oil undercoating designed to protect metal surfaces by actively displacing moisture and creeping into seams, welds, and hard-to-reach areas where rust typically begins.
Unlike rubberized or asphalt-based coatings, Woolwax:
Does not dry out or crack
Will self-heal from chips or abrasions
Continues to migrate into seams and cavities over time
This makes it especially effective on frames, undercarriages, rockers, doors, crossmembers, and internal cavities — even on vehicles that already show surface rust.
Long-Term Protection Strategy
Woolwax Oil-based rustproofing works best as a maintenance system typically good for 2 years before touchup is needed, this product is not intended to just be a one-time application. We’ll help you determine the appropriate reapplication interval based on:
Vehicle age and condition
Driving habits
Exposure to salt and moisture
Our goal is to help your vehicle last longer, stay safer, and avoid costly rust-related repairs down the road.
We offer Discounted rates on Coating touchups
Is Rustproofing Right for My Vehicle?
Oil-based rustproofing is ideal for:
Daily drivers exposed to road salt
Trucks, SUVs, and work vehicles
Vehicles you plan to keep long-term
New or lightly rusted vehicles
If you’re unsure whether your vehicle is a good candidate, contact us — we’re happy to take a look and give an honest recommendation.
Coating Color Options
The straw-colored version is ideal for:
Internal cavities and enclosed areas
Seams, welds, and structural pockets
Vehicles where visibility of the underlying metal is preferred
Straw Woolwax provides excellent corrosion protection while allowing the condition of the metal to remain visible for future inspections and maintenance.
Black Woolwax is commonly used on:
Frames and undercarriages
Visible structural components
Areas exposed to road debris and direct spray
It offers the same corrosion protection while delivering a clean, uniform appearance underneath the vehicle.
In most cases, we apply straw Woolwax first, followed by a light overlay of black Woolwax on visible areas.
This approach:
Ensures full penetration into seams and cavities
Maintains maximum corrosion protection
Provides a clean, professional appearance from street level
The result is a well-protected undercarriage that not only performs exceptionally well, but also looks properly finished — not over-applied or sloppy.
Color selection and layering are always adjusted based on vehicle type, condition, and customer preference.
While appearance is important, protection always comes first. Our color choices and layering methods are designed to enhance coverage and longevity without compromising effectiveness.
If you have a specific preference or goal for your vehicle, we’re happy to discuss options during scheduling.
